    Hi gurus,

    About this picture:

    rap_iapvpn.PNG

    I am clear and understand the Branch Office Controller and VIA solutions. But, what is the difference between to have a RAP or an IAP cluster with a VPN connection to an MC? If the branch office needs corporate access, which option is better, RAP or IAP VPN? I have worked with RAPs, but I haven't with IAP VPN. Is the IAP VPN solution deployed widely or quite the opposite? I suppose this is a open question, but I would like someone to shed some light on this for me.

    Regards,

    Julián

    RAPs

    * are managed by the controller
    * requires a controller license
    * but not a good solution if you require more than one and roaming is needed between the Aps
    * good for extending L2 VLANs
    * can be configured in full or split tunnel mode

    IAP

    * can be managed locally or via AirWave
    * doesn’t require a controller license
    * the controller only serves as VPN concentrator
    * good solution if you require more than one and roaming is needed between the Aps
    * more flexible (distributed design approach) : L2 Distributed , L2 Centralized , L3 Centralized , L3 Distributed
