    Hi All,

I'm having problems with clients failing to authenticate using 802.1x when they move from one AP/room to another. They will have to disconnect and reconnect to the WiFi inorder to rejoin the network or being asked to re-enter their network details. This is happening on all devices - ipads, laptops and macbooks.

When we use a preshared key to authenticate, it's working fine.

Radius authentication is being done on Windows 2012 server and DHCP is being done by the Fortigate 60D firewall. We have 25APs - IAP-103 and 114 running version 6.4.2.0-4.1.1

    Many thanks

You said the version is 4.1.1.? What is the last digit.

What kinds of clients does this issue happen on?

What is your arm minimim and maximum transmit power for your access points? By default the power is normally too high.

    Thanks for your quick response.

    The version is 6.4.2.6-4.1.1.7_50209

    Minimum transmit power : 6

    Max transmit power : Max

This is happening to users running Windows 7,8.1; iOS8.4; Mac OSX 10.9-10.10.4 at a school.

What is the current transmit power of your access points? The max should be at either 18 or 15 to avoid roaming issues.

Minimum transmit power is 6 then the Maximum is just set to max

The max should be limited to 18 or 15 to prevent the issues you are having.

What power did all of your access points settle on?

I have changed max transmit power to 18.

How do I check the power for the APs?

The front dashboard should have a list of access points and their transmit power on each band.
