It's an automatic process. If af power is used, the AP will go into a "lite" mode and drop the 2.4 radio to a single stream and disable the USB port. You don't need to manually do anything.

<EDITED, MISREAD>  This only applies to the 220 series.

thanks for the quick reply, we were going to create a radio profile with  2.4  radio manually turned off  anyway for a different reason , other than PoE .....  very high density user area , saturated with 2.4 channels already  and did not want to rely on ARM , band steering and spectrum load balancing to avoid the problems caused by channel interference .

We are completely BYOD environment and so cannot test behaviour of all clients with band steering  spectrum load balancing etc.

The AP-215 can fully operate off of 802.3af power.   The 225 will automatically disable the chain and USB port as Tim suggests.

thanks for the reply. Forgive me if this is a silly question :  If the AP215   does not support automatically adjusting the number of radio chains, then how does the AP215 manage on  802.3af ?

The AP-215 can run with a full feature set on af power.

thankyou .last question , promise . Found this on the spec sheet for aP215 :

--"USB port is disabled when using an 802.3af PoE power

source; for unrestricted operation with PoE power, use

    an 802.3at compliant source"

In what scenario would you use a usb port on the AP215 - just curious ?
