Can someone confirm that we can deploy Aruba clearpass in the Azure cloud with full functionality?

 

If so, please share any document which can be helpful in this regard.

No. ClearPass is currently supported on VMware ESXi, Hyper-V and KVM.

So does this mean Clearpass cannot be cloud deployed at all? (forgive my ignorance if this seems obvious to some)

 

 

Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS and Google Cloud Platform are not supported today.

 

The supported platforms today are: VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V and KVM.

 

RE: Aruba Central, yes. Central is just a management platform. The IAP featureset is the same.

Whole infrastructure services has been migrated to Azure including AD services.
We do not have any any scope of having anything on primis.

We have also purchased the licencees for CPPM. What is the techinal limitation of not supporting in cloud?

The system requirements for ClearPass clearly state ESXi, Hyper-V or KVM as being supported platforms. If you have concerns, you should work with your Aruba or partner account team.

As an update, Aruba ClearPass is now supported in AWS.  However please reach out to your local Aruba SE to discuss further.

As of today is it also available for Google cloud platform ?

Any rollmap for the Azure version for the current year?

I might be able to shed some light on Azure as we recently went through the pain for this.

We wanted to move our Alumni to Azure AAD. ClearPass does support Azure Logins for users, the issue is that it only suppors the Global Azure Portal. So if you set up Azure Logins, you will be redirected to MS global Azure Login page and it works.

We have our own Azure Tennancy (I think that is the right term) so it wouldn't work for us, as there is no way to redirect to our Azure login page and capture the authorisation sequence and pass it back to Clearpass.

We have asked TAC to pass up the chain so that it becomes a feature request as when more and more people migrate to Azure, this feature will become essential...

This is a bit of a different topic. This is Azure AD as an identity store vs Azure Compute as a hypervisor.

On this topic though, a separate tenant should still support SAML and OAuth 2.0 so you should not have any issues here. Can you please direct message me your case # and Azure tenant ID so I can take a look?

Looking through the CP configuration for Azure, there are more options now. We gave up as the functionality wasn't there, however it is on my list to look again as there is additional Azure support now including tenancy ID's which is what we wanted back then.
