These instructions are for upgrading from CentOS 4 to CentOS5.3 using the AWMS 6.3 ISO. Your AWMS code will also be upgraded to AWMS 6.3:**This only works if you are upgrading from AMP version 6.2.3**Version check:1. The WebUI -> Home page (center across the page will be version number)2. From the command line:# amp_version# root; svn infoBefore beginning the procedure, you will want to make sure you have a good backup of your AMP. This will be key if there are any problems during this upgrade process. We recommend taking the following steps to get 2 backups of your AMP:a. Check the date of the last backup created during nightly maintenance:# ls -lha /var/airwave-backupb. If the dates match up, copy the most recent backup to an external fileshare or desktop, it should be nightly_data001:/var/airwave-backup/nightly_data001.tar.gzc. Copy the license key off:/var/airwave/license/license.txtd. Create an additional backup, this is recommended in case the nightly backup data turns out to be corrupted:# scripts; ./amp_backupe. Copy new backup to an external fileshare or desktop:/alternative/databackup.tar.gzf. Proceed with OS upgrade stepsThese are the steps to Upgrade the OS from CentOS 4 or 4.3 to CentOS 5.3 and to upgrade the AWMS code from 6.2.3 to 6.3:1. Check the current OS# cat /etc/redhat-releaseExample:[root@amp ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release CentOS release 4.3 (Final)2. Check that the current AMP version is 6.2.3 (this is required for the OS upgrade to work)# amp_version# root; svn infoExample:[root@amp mercury]# amp_version6.2.3[root@amp mercury]# svn infoPath: .URL: http://svn.corp.airwave.com/usr/local/svnroot/mercury/tags/RELEASE_6_2_3Repository Root: http://svn.corp.airwave.com/usr/local/svnroot/mercuryRepository UUID: 99f6a4a8-5413-0410-a0fb-e6b940866760Revision: 36573Node Kind: directorySchedule: normalLast Changed Author: aaronLast Changed Rev: 36573Last Changed Date: 2009-03-20 06:50:15 -0700 (Fri, 20 Mar 2009)3. Download and burn the 6.3 ISO from http://www.airwave.com/support/download4. Insert CD into a bootable CD-ROM drive attached to the AMP appliance5. Reboot the AMP6. After reboot, you should come to an AirWave splash page, to upgrade, type: 'upgrade' - this will kick off the CentOS image upload**please be careful to NOT type 'install'**7. After CentOS image upload, reboot again. After the reboot, you may see errors like "BEGIN failed" or "Compilation failed" These errors are benign. Please ignore them. 8. Log in at the command line9. Follow the prompt:# ./amp-centos-upgrade10. After the upgrade has finalized, please verify the upgrade of both the OS and the AWMS code:# source /root/.bashrc# cat /etc/redhat-release# amp_version# root; svn infoAnd check the WebUIHere's the past knowledge-base article about upgrading OS:http://kb.airwave.com/?sid=50140000000Mf6H
