Why are Spectralink phones stuck at 1 and 2 MB/s data rate?

Product and Software: This article applies to the earlier release of Spectralink phones and or gateways that are running older firmware.

When dealing with VoIP quality issues, low-speed and high-retransmit rates could be symptoms of an RF issue. After certifying the RF for optimized performance, the Spectralink phone will continue to operate only at the low data rates. This is by design.

  • If the customer has deployed a VoIP network without a SVP server, the phones will never operate above 2 MB/s. This is the expected behavior.
  • Depending on the model of phones, it maybe possible to upgrade the gateways to latest firmware revision to achieve higher throughput rates.

Consult your voice vendor to upgrade your the firmware or hardware.
