AW 8.2.10.1 - Cannot import to ESXI 6

    Dear Experts,

     

    When i try to import 8.2.10.1 ova file to ESXI, it gives me this error

    "The OVF package requires unsupported hardware.

    Details: Line 25: Unsupported hardware family vmx-13"

     

    Any idea what might be the issue. In server sizing guide, ESXI 5.5 or later is mentioned.

    Check this vmware community link for fix and if you still see issue try use ISO image instead of OVA file and mostly OVA file is used for POCs.

    Dear Pavan, 

     

    Solved it :-) For anyone who finds this post while searching for the solution

     

    1) extract ova file using 7zip or winrar ( i used winrar). There will be 3 files. .mf, .vmdk and .ovf

    2) Open .ovf file in notepad, and search for line that is giving the error. My error was regarding "vmx-13" so i searched for "vmx-13"

    3) change "vmx-13" to "vmx-10"

    4) save the file

    5) delete the .mf file

    6) Import the ovf file now, it will work!

     

    I am doing this for PoC only. Cannot recommend above steps for production.

    Good to know your issue get fixed :)

     

    Note: In future if you are planning to install server for production use ISO image.
