I just ran a discovery on my LAN and it reports 1 New Device found.  But when I go to APs/Devices->New, no devices are listed.  Is there somewhere else that I should be looking to find what the newly discovered device is?  It should be an Aruba AP 303H access point...

    TIA,

    Mike

Is it a campus AP or an IAP? A campus AP should not respond to SNMP.  If it is an IAP, it will not show up in the "new" category as the result of a scan.  It would have to be added through the IAP GUI, activate, DHCP options, but not from a scan.

Hmmm, I don't know what a campus AP is, but I do know this AP 303H has IAP built in as a way to manage it.  Thanks for the info, I'll try adding the AP thru it's IAP rather than thru AW.  Seems very unintuitive that AW discovers it, but never shows it anywhere.  As a newbie I would suggest AW at least list it, but display a note with instructions on adding it thru IAP...

Hmmm, I guess I really am an AW newbie, as I can't find out where to find:

    IAP GUI, activate, DHCP options

I have my own Windows Server providing DHCP, so not sure why IAP's DHCP options would be relevant (I'm sure it is, I'm just too much a newbie).  And where is "activate"?

    Thanks!

I did some searching here on AC, and found a .PDF that seems to describe how to link IAP to AW:

    https://community.arubanetworks.com/aruba/attachments/aruba/Controller-lessWLANs/29/1/00003516-1.pdf

But when I went to my IAP GUI and clicked on "Airwave" at bottom of Home page, it opens a new page within AW that is supposed to create a new "role".  Didn't work for me, as I got the following "Object not found" error:

    IAP - AW error.jpg

(10.10.0.7 is my AW server, ver 8.2.5).

The .pdf above did not list a date of publication, so maybe it's for an older version of AW or IAP?  WHY do authors forget to list a publication date - it's so frustrating...

    TIA,

    Mike

Turns out this Aruba pdf doc must have been somewhat old.  I found that to link Instant Access Point (IAP) to AirWave (AW), all you have to do is configure IAP by going to System->Admin and fill in the AW section in upper right.  The "shared key" field is unique to IAP - there is no corresponding field to fill in in AW, which had me confused for a bit.

As far as support on this forum, so far I have found it to be disappointing.  Rarely do users ever reply, instead just some Aruba staff (which I am thankful for).  But there's a lack of followup even from Aruba staff :(

Anyway, this one was resolved by me calling into HPE support...
