I currently running 8.2.4.1 of AirWave. I noticed that 8.2.5 was released. I have tried to upgrade through the CLI menu system. When it comes to where to download from I have tried from the Aruba Support and HPE support. Both of the downloads say to check the site  to see if it is there because it could not find it. I have logged into the Aruba Support site and see it there. Is there a way to do the update through the web GUI?

Apperently the update guide is wrong.

    Had the same issue.

Instead of typing 825 in the update process, try 8.2.5 or 8.2.5.0 (cant remember which worked)

We ran into the same issue when upgrading to 8.2.5 yesterday.  I had to manually download the file and transfer the file using SCP.  Hopefully HPE Aruba can correct this so others will have an easier time of upgrading to 8.2.5.

    Hello!

Alternatively you can download the upgrade package manually upload it to the amp from an scp server (i used a qnap nas).

    1. Choose "Upload File" in the menu.
    2. Use the sytax: admin@x.x.x.x:/share/AMP-8.2.5-x86_64-cvs.tar.gz
    3. Hit enter, and type in the password at prompt.

As next step you can Upgrade the amp choosing "7 Upgrade".

    Type in 8.2.5.

    Works for me!

    Hi Matthias,

I have to upgrade to version 8.2.5 next week, where can I get that console menu from?

    Hello Julián!

SSH to your AMP, login as ampadmin.

    Hi Matthias,

I am upgrading from AirWave 8.2.3.1, so following the steps of in AirWave 8.2.5 Release Notes > Upgrade from AirWave 8.2.3.1 I will not see that menu and I will to upgrade with the command "start_amp_upgrade -v 8.2.5". AirWave 8.2.3.1 doesn't have that menu. Am I right?

    Regards,

    Julián

8.2.5.1 will be released soon.  (it's already on the Aruba Support Portal, it'll appear in MNP in about 2 weeks).

The release notes goes through both upgrade scenarios.

    For upgrades prior to 8.2.4:

Upgrade from AirWave 8.2.3.1 or Earlier Versions
If you upgrade from AirWave 8.2.3.1 or earlier, you will no longer have root user access to the Linux shell after
the upgrade to AirWave 8.2.5.1, and your system will be converted to use the new AMP CLI. For information
about using the AMP CLI, see the AirWave 8.2.5.1 User Guide.
Follow these steps to upgrade from AirWave 8.2.3.1 or earlier:
    1. Log in to the AirWave server as the root user.
    2. Run the upgrade utility:
    #start_amp_upgrade -v 8.2.5.1
The upgrade utility looks for the local upgrade package.
After the download completes, the following message appears while the software compiles:
    Validating the upgrade package...
    Upgrade package is OK.
Using upgrade script extracted from local package.
Upgrade package found in local cache.
If the software is not available, manually download the software and then perform this step again.
    3. After the AMP services restart, you will see the following message:
    Setting up secure accounts...
    Setting admin user name...
    Admin Username (default 'ampadmin'):
    Admin user is admpadmin
    Done
    Setting admin password...
    Admin Password:
    Verify Password:
    Done
    Done
    Removing alias for less...
    Done
    AMPCLI Setup completed
Enter the new ampadmin password. If you don't enter a user name, AirWave uses the default "ampadmin".
    4. After setting the password, you will see the following message:
Your system has been converted to use AMPCLI. You may now
log in as ampadmin. If you lose the password for ampadmin you
may log in as amprecovery (password recovery) on the console to reset
    the ampadmin password
    5. Finally, remove any OS user accounts to prevent unauthorized access.

    Hi!

As rob wrote ... AMPCLI started with 8.2.4.
    Use rob's manual above.

I cannot install any software on any computers. Computers are locked down because this is a hospital.

Than I would contact your Microsoft client admin...

    Good luck!

They said it was not an approved software and will not be installed. Why can't Aruba fix the update issue? Or at least give another way of uploading the downloaded file.

We are looking into additional means of upload.  In the meantime, you can also open a case with TAC - they can create the support user account and use that account to upload the file from a SFTP source.

Could you try the CLI upgrade once again using your Aruba credentials if you havent upgraded? I believe it should work now. Tested in lab and it works. There was some issue for upgrade with Aruba credentials and its fixed now.
