AMP 8 sizing guide is below, the table is different than what you have but it is a small measuring stick to what you should be looking for. Capture.JPG

I have an Airwave running 8.0.0 monitoring 532 devices. I was just fine on 7.7.x, after upgrading to 8.0.0,

I have some performance issues and disk space issues.

My server is not as performant as the ones indicated above ( we are in the process of upgrading the hardware).

    It  has 16Gb of ram with a a 275Gb HD and an Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E31220 @ 3.10GHz 4 Cores 8192 KB cache (3093.100 MHz actual)

After upgrading a few weeks ago to MAP 8, just now I am starting to run out of diskspace, granted I can tweak historical data retention and run reports, etc..to reduce the disk space usage.

I see also between 4000-5000 clients a day on this machine.

I think from this you can judge what kind of server you need. RAM is key and if you want to keep as much data as possible on your server, then get lots of HD space.

    This Table is 1500 & 4000 devices

What if we need for 50 / 500 devices ?

Then simply adjust your hardware specs. Less HD space, Less RAM, less CPU.

I wouldn't cheap on the RAM since it is cheap anyway.

But Less to How Much ?

Why Specs is not Clear Ranges like what was with AW 7 ?

I cannot answer that unfortunately. Possibly reach out to your local SE or channel manager to help you in this regard.

There is an Airwave server sizing calculator on this URL:

    https://ase.arubanetworks.com/solutions/id/77

I have used it before to size the server for a customer with quite a large number of APs, but most important, because is a large university campus in the middle of the city the number of neighbour APs (rogue or not) is also very large, this has a big impact on the resources that are required. The sizing calculator is a very good starting point.

Note the message that this is beta software:

    BETA SOFTWARE

Please note this is an Aruba Networks beta solution. Sizing is determined by finding the closest engineering tested benchmark and then calculating the percentage difference between the requested device count and the benchmark. Environmental modifier adjustment amounts have not been fully qualified yet; this is a work in progress.

    Max

This is my personal opinion and in no way represents the posture of HPE Aruba.
