    Hi all,

I would like to upgrade my AirWave server. I'm currently running 8.0.4. I have done some research and it looks like I can upgrade to 8.2.4 directly from 8.2.1.1 and at the home of my AirWave, it says "AirWave 8.2.1.1 upgrade is available" so I'm assuming I can go straight from 8.0.4(current) to 8.2.1.1. Upgrade path: 8.0.4>8.2.1.1>8.2.4.

CentOS version: release 6.2(Final) Kernel 2.6.32-358.6.2.el16.x86_64

    IAP 205 firmware: 6.4.2.6-4.1.3.0_54915

I just want to make sure I'm clear to follow that upgrade path.

    Thanks,

    Jeremy

    Hi Jeremy,

You should be able to upgrade directly to 8.2.4 as well. Please make sure to take a backup of the server. If its a VM taking a snapshot for the instance would be also good.

Oh okay, great. One less step for the same solution is always welcome. It's a VM so I'll just snapshot and then be on my way to 8.2.4!

    Thanks for your help,

    Jeremy

The upgrade went really smooth, it was super simple. The new interface looks really nice. I have a question though. In our environment, I have some IAP205s and AP105s. All of the IAP205s are marked as "up" and the AP105s are marked as "down." If I log into the A105s directly, they still are serving up valid IP addresses. Is this correct? I had a mini heart attack when I saw that half of my wireless network was down but the I checked and saw the IPs were legit so I think we're good? Am I? I'm fine with them showing down, we're in the process of upgarding them.

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

    Hi Jeremy,

Good to know that the server is upgraded succesfully now. With regards to the IAPs showing down we would have to analyze the logs and further troubleshoot on what is missing. Event log would be a good place to start with. Opening a TAC case for this would be really good.

Well here is what the real question is. Can an AP105 with firmware version 6.2.0.0-3.2.0.4_38110 work with 8.2.4? Yes is the answer. But I'm not sure what I am losing as far as management goes. The AP105s are the ones that NEED the controller to function I thought? They're "up" and serving clients even though AirWave says they're down now. But yeah, I'll have to open a case if something goes wrong.

    Thanks,

    Jeremy
