Hello everyone,

I am trying to add HPE officeconnect switches 1920 model to Aruba Airwave.

HPE switches have static management IP, I have created SNMP v3 and try adding it manually to the Airwave server and try "Poll now" I get the following result always "SNMP get failed".

Also, I have tried SNMP v1 and v2c but I also get the same result.

Do anyone faced this issue with HPE switches? Aruba switches and Controller immediately appears on the Airwave server after adding them.

Please, I need assistance.

Hi,

Make sure you have configured correct commuity string in Airwave. We see snmp get failed message if we have entered incorrect community details.

Are you adding device as Aruba device or HP or universal device?

If you are using snmpv3 provide correct snmp user details.

After receiving your update I checked again my config and set the same SNMP community string but still the same issue.

Is there any sample on how to configure SNMP on HPE switches with Aruba Airwave?

Are you adding device as Aruba Device or HPE officeconnect ? Same steps how you add Aruba switch/controller to Airwave.

Are you able to  ping switch ip from Airwave CLI? have you tried adding the device as universal and checked once?

Try do snmp walk for below OIDs from Airwave to switch and check whether its responding or not?

coDevStUpTime

coDevInfoProductType

syntax

#s2w <switch ip> <community string> <OID>  -OX

If you dont see any snmp response from switch then please open TAC ticket.

I tried to ping from the switch the IP of the Airwave it is reachable,

now I left the site I am working at. Tomorrow I will do the troubleshooting steps that you provided me.

I used SNMP v2c instead of v3.

We could use either snmpv2 or V3, if you are using v2 need to configure community string and if it is v3 configure snmpv3 user in switch and proivde those details in Airwave.

When you are adding device as snmpv3, make sure change the SNMP Version to v3, default it is set to v2 for HP in Groups>Basic page
