It's great that flash if gone, my boss likes looking at floorplans on his iPad.

 

We notice however that the heatmaps got a LOT cooler in the new version (poorer coverage, not The Fonz)

 

We've been using VisualRF to plan a new store deployment and have been hitting the mark pretty squarely each time. The store which we were finalizing yesterday now looks terrible.

 

I can't find any assumptions or settings in the system which were changed, but predicted coverage dropped terribly.

What's changed? and how do I change it back?

Is this pre-deployment?  Please screenshot your settings on both.

Have you tried measuring the floor again?

This floorplan is all planned APs in pre-deployment planning.

I re-measured the floorplan which changed nothing.

 

Here are the floor and AP properties we use for our planning, I can't show the former screenshots since we've upgraded and can't go back easily, but they are the same assumptions we've used for 60 or so stores.

 

 

 

I have further tried restarting VisualRF and switching back to flash.

Now live floorplans looks pretty similar to prior, but planned floorplans still look terrible (in both html5 and flash)

 

I've got a ticket open with TAC, unless anyone has any more ideas, I'll just wait on TAC and report back what I learn.

I just upgraded from 7.7.11 to 8.0.0 and I'm seeing the same issue.   DWG imports don't load a floor plan in HTML5 mode and in Flash no layers are showing up to unselect unneeded layers from our facilities master floor plan files.

Seems as though I am suffering from the "cooling" issue as well.

I'll dig deeper into this and see if I can find anything.

TAC has been able to reproduce the problem, and is processing it as a bug.

Ditto, I am experiencing the same issue, so i will call in and let them know more people are seeing the problem if you can get an bug ID.   So far i am liking 8.0, just got to get things fixed. 

We may have worked out the issue.

 

If you planned an AP in 7.x and upgraded: the planned AP looks terrible.

If you plan an AP in 8.x after upgrade: the planned AP looks great.

 

We've got 20 or so planned sites - 250 or so planned APs - to re-plan, but the plan seems to be fine if it is done in the new rev.

 

I have asked TAC to try to get the problem fixed to save folks who haven't upgraded yet some extra work.

Has TAC been keeping you up to date on getting the issue fixed?  Having the problem in 8.0.1.

As far as planned in 7.7 and upgraded to 8.0 failing to correctly model, TAC (or rather Engineering) has decided that this doesn't merit attention. We had 16 stores' wireless plans in progress and have a lot of work to re-plan them, so I've complained at some lenght, but I'm not really expecting them to try to resolve this.

I think that means its time for the rest of us who are experiencing this to call in then, because it does not seem like an acceptable answer that i have to redo all my plans.

Same problem here reported. Aruba Support acknowledged it as a defect but workaround to turn HTML off in the setup setting.

Update on this issue. I believe the issue is resolved in version 8.0.5

I also think it's been fixed in 8.0.5 - kind of forgot I was testing it.
