    Pls someone help me~

     

    How can I set up the smtp server using e.g. gmail/yahoo mail, and use that to sent out alert mail?

    but I have tried to set "smtp.gmail.com" there and use "sent test mail" and nothing happen...

    is there other thing i need to set?

    that won't work, google requires authentication to use it's SMTP server which also not running on port 25:

    i believe you will need to configure postfix yourself if you want this to work, this gives a framework, but not the exact config:

    This was the best answer for me. The commands worked, except for one thing: I'm one of the people that turned on a GMail feature to create unique passwords for apps that want to send mail for me. So I had to go to Google's site, create a new app password, and use THAT in the echo command instead. Now things are working!

    You also need to enable legacy authentication on your account as well as import the smtp.gmail.com cert into the trust list.

    I don't think I ever activated legacy auth, and I'm sure I never imported a cert. I definitely didn't do either of those things on this last attempt... but it works! :)
