I have a scenario where we have been monitoring devices within a particular Airwave Group.

Now that the customer has it's own server to monitor the network, I would like to know if possible to move the Group/Folder/Data from the initial Airwave to the new Airwave to maintain all the data.

This is a stretch but if it can be done, that would be great.!

If i have the same thing i was trying  to do this: (taking the backup from the working AirWave and deploy it on the new AirWave)

1. Use your AirWave Installation CD to build a new machine. The new machine must be running the same
version as the AMP that created the backup file.
2. Copy the nightly_data00[1-4].tar.gz file to the /tmp directory in the new AMP.
A file transfer client that supports SFTP/SCP for Windows is WinSCP: http://winscp.sourceforge.net/eng/
WinSCP allows you to transfer the nightly00[1-4].tar.gz file from your local PC to the new AMP using the
secure copy protocol (SCP).
3. Log onto the new server as root.
4. Change to the scripts directory by typing scripts.
5. Run the restore script by typing ./amp_restore -d /tmp/nightly_data00[1-4].tar.gz.

After u restore everything on the client airwave - delete all unneeded things | and build the groups|folder as u want

That is a full restore unfortunately. That is very easy to do but I want to move only 1 Airwave group to another Airwave.

Both Airwaves are already deployed with multiple groups witnin them.

Thank for the post but it is not exactly what I am looking for.

If all the devices are in the same group, then you should be able to do a group dump and restore.  Make sure all devices are in monitor-only mode before making this move.  After you've moved the desired group over to the destination AMP, you can delete the group from the original AMP (delete all the devices, once the devices have been removed, then you can delete the folder and group.

# cd /root/svn/mercury/tools

# ./create_group_dump.pl
Create a dump file for a group and all of its APs.
The dump file can be used to migrate the group and its devices to another AMP.
Dump files will be created in '/var/airwave/custom/group_dumps'.

Usage:

./create_group_dump.pl <csv_data_file>

The CSV data file must contain a column named 'group_name' which specifies
the groups which will be restored.

Example CSV file format:

group_name
Home Office
Remote Office
Building 15

# ./restore_group_dump.pl

edit: obviously Data will not follow as well.

Any way to bring the data for that Group/Folder onto the new AMP?

The script expectations:

All device and group data including historical bandwidth and client count graphs.  Group firmware files are not maintained during this migration.  The script does not transfer past client data.

Improvements to add any additional data collection to the scripts should be filed into the Ideas Portal on the support site.

I will probably file an idea request to be able to transfer additional data from one AMP group to another AMP

I am attempting to try the ./create_group_dump.pl script but no matter what I do, I keep getting the help file.

I tried simply ./create_group_dump.pl

as well as ./create_group_dump.pl groups.csv

As well as creating an empty groups.csv file and transfering to /var/airwave/custom/group_dumps

and running ./create_group_dump.pl groups.csv

Any ideas.....

You need to run the group dump script with a csv file.  The csv file contains the list of groups you want dumped (with limitation that the first line must be 'group_name').

If I had an AMP with 4 groups: North, East, South, West

And I wanted to dump just 1 group, then the csv file would look like:

# cat 1group.csv

group_name

North

For a dump of all 4 groups

# cat allgroup.csv

group_name

North

East

South

West

Each file ends up in a dump file of their own, so when restoring, there's the flexibility of choosing which files to restore as long as the dump file is present and CSV file has the proper group_names.
