    Hello,

i want to use dedicated management port in order to access to aruba 7010.

When i assign an ip adress on mgmt port, it failed with this output :

    Ip address configuration failed

    Best regards.

It has to be in the same subnet as one of the ip interfaces on the controller.  It does not take a subnet mask.

    I don't really understand.

    (Aruba7010) (config-mgmt)#ip address X.X.X.X ?
    <ipmask> A.B.C.D IP subnet mask

I must enter a subnet mask according to this output.

Is there a guide which explains the role of mgmt port.

I know i can use an other interface with a specific address and subnet mask to reach controller.

In this case , what s the purpose of mgmt port ?

I think you do a mix up with loopback interface which doesn't need subnet mask :

    (Aruba7010) (config-loop)#ip address X.X.X.X ?
    <cr>

I am sorry.  Yes I did confuse it.

You should be able to put an ip address and subnet mask on that physical interface.  Can you show me what ip address and subnet mask you attempted to put?  If you cannot show me here or if you cannot put a valid ip address, it might be a bug and you should open a TAC case.

I succeed setting an ip address on mgmt port.

Indeed, when you set up for the first time a 7010 controller, it needs an ip address ( on loopback interface or any vlan).

The trouble, i setted an adress ip on mgmt port which was equal or/and different (but in the same network) that the "switch ip" ( vlan ip or loopback interface).

    Thanks for your help.
