Has anyone expierence with adding Interface description from Cisco within the clearpass manager? We are using the cisco description for location information of the walloutlet.

No, it's locally significant in the config and the switch does not pass it in the RADIUS request so we never see it on the ClearPass side.

is there another option availabe to load this information within clearpass through in import anywhere or fill clearpass with this information by the API?

Sure, you could use the API. Not sure I’m following what the use case is.

i want to have the overview of switchport and description within one field in clearpass. it is easy for our helpdesk to support users if they also could see the description, because our description describes the physically wallout. if an enduser call the helpdesk and tell the outlet as information, they are able to see all information within one screen, instead of logging also in on the cisco switch to check what the outlet number is. 

Won’t the information easily go stale after a change on the switch?

 

We generally don't recommend writing dynamic data to a static field. But if this meets your use case, you can absolutely use the REST API to populate that data.
