    Hi All,

I've had mixed sucess in onboarding different Android devices using clearpass. Is there a definative list of which android devices are definately able to be onboarded?

Also who can we feedback to if there are devices that do not work? I'm assuming our SE but just checking...

    Cheers

    James

    Hello!

I've not seen such a list, but it would be interresting to see. Tho - android has so many combinations of versions together with various browsers that I think the list would'nt have much value - or atleast not for very long.

A few questions if you'd like to share and get some input for your troubleshooting..

Any specific combinations you've found that does and doesnt work?
What kind of onboarding? Just connection profiles or also certificates for eap-tls auth?
What kind of authentication? Local cp account, or AD?
Http or https? If https, is the ssl certificate public and certified for mobile devices?

I've often seen onboarding stop due to browser not accepting ssl certificate.
Also if you have redirects across networks from client net to clearpass net you can see browsers refusing to load the cp website.

    Hi John,

Thanks for the reply. I've heard time and time again that due to the different Android versions, browsers, vendor customisation etc that it's very difficult to confirm it'll be working for a particular device. I don't really buy into that.

I don't have a clearpass installation to play around on at the moment (hopefully will in a couple of weeks) so don't have a chance to troubleshoot. My comments are from my previous experiences.

I was just wondering if any other Airheads has a similar experience.

As I said I'll have the clearpass suite to play around with soon so will test more thoroughly and be on the latest code.

    Cheers

    James

    Add me to the list.

I've tested succefully with a Nexus 7, but that's about it.

It would be great if we could start a list on AirHeads of devices that users have succefully onboarded.

At least it would be a start.

I've had success with the iPad Mini 6.x.x - although it was a pain due to the fact that their devices have to have Internet access immediately or they disconnect themselves from the associated SSID. Always trying to hit success.html

    We have also tested on

    Apple iPhone 3G Phone 6.x.x

    Apple iPad 2 Tablet 6.x.x

Asus Nexus 7 Tablet Android 4.2.2

    LG LG-P500h Phone Android 2.3.3

Dell XPS 10 tablet Windows 8

    Windows 7

    Windows 8

And an older HTC phone I can't remember the model of running Android 2.3.3
