    Hi,

     

    We have Aruba WLC with guest SSID. Authentication: WPA - PSK. So, the password will be same all the times.

     

    But we would like to implement the below solution, can you advise how to proceed on it?

     

    "The user must be session timeout every one hour & prompted to key in password (though the password is same, we would prompt the user to key in everytime) during that time". Can it be achieved using Aruba WLC alone? Or it needs a separate server to accomplish?

    Yes, you can use the built-in controller captive portal but there are no
    self-registration features. You would need ot manually update the password.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

     

    Can you clarify whether captive portal be used for WPA PSK authentication as well?

     

    Our requirement is like "dont allow WPA PSK password to be saved in user's handphone, so that they will key-in every time they log in to guest SSID".

     

    Please advise.

    Oh, then no, that is not possible. You can only layer on another
    authentication method like captive portal or you can just use captive portal
    with no PSK.

    Noted on this.

     

    "Captive portal with no PSK" - May I know how does it work?  It will be using username & password to authenticate right? What are the fields to be included in portal to facilitate our requirement? (i.e. key in password every time after one hour).

    You could just create a random username that's hidden in the form and you can change the password every hour and set the session timeout for 1 hour.
