Recently, our company plan to provide 6 hours free WiFi service per day for all guest/customer/anonymous without authentication by captive portal with MAC caching feature, we are trying to re-configure our CPPM to fulfill this requirement but after study, it seems that all existing CPPM pre-designed service type are not suitable for our target, so I would like to know is CPPM suitable for this case and if yes, any external SQL DB are required?

    Service description:

    • Any device can login to system by CP with no authentication
    • After login successfully, system will record those MAC for 6 hours MAC-Auth purpose
    • After 6 hours, those devices will get login fail by MAC-Auth / CP
    • All cached MAC address will be reset at the midnight everyday.

Can anyone help to suggest that whether CPPM is suitable for this case? And some hints for CPPM solution, thank you.

So login would just be a click through accept the terms page?

Thank you for your reply and help, so do we need any external SQL DB for the configuration or we just need CPPM local SQL for this case only?

In addition, may I know which pre-designed service type I can selected as the configuration template and how system know one MAC address had used over 6 hours and reset all MAC cache at12:00am? Thank you.

You would not need an external database.

There is not a service which would cover your exact use case. You would want to build your own services and enforcements. I would work with your Aruba ClearPass partner.
