    Hi Guys

I have been tasked with upgrading customer CPPM nodes (HW-500) 6.4 to 6.5 with 5 updates to perform first

    Existing Publisher/Subscriber cluster configuration: -

    1) Publisher IP x.x.x.24, Subscriber IP x.x.x.25

    2) No ViP configured

    3) Publisher failover not enabled

    4) 802.1x Radius requests forwarded from WLC - profile contains entry for both CPPM nodes .24 and .25

Q - From above config, following a Publisher reload eg after update patch install, will the Subscriber automatically become Publisher?

I have read posts stating the Subscriber becomes 'Out of Sync' and is then in a position to have the same patch installed??

Q - with Publisher failover not enabled, will the Subscriber ever become Publisher dynamically? If not is the Subscriber there until manually told to become Publisher??

    Many thanks in advance

No , you need publisher failover enabled in order to have this functionality.

Both need to have the same level code to be insync

    Gary,

I wanted to quickly ask about "I have been tasked with upgrading customer CPPM nodes (HW-500) 6.4 to 6.5 with 5 updates to perform first"  the 5-updates....

You can go straight from any 6.4.x release to 6.5.0, you don't need to apply intermediate updates.

Hi Danny - thanks for that. The release notes advise applying all patches first, can you confirm where it states otherwise?

    Regards

    Gary,

Page15 of the Upgrade Release Notes.... note that 90% of our users updated through the GUI.... let me know if you want to chat and I'll call you.

For 6.4.x upgrades through the Software Updates portal in the Policy Manager user interface, or through

the Web service, upgrade is supported for any 6.4.x version.

For 6.4.x upgrades through the CLI, there are two options:

If you are on 6.4.2 or later, you can upgrade directly to 6.5 through the CLI.

If you are on 6.4.0 or 6.4.1, you must first download and install the 6.4.0 CLI updates patch. At

support.arubanetworks.com, go to Download Software > ClearPass > Policy Manager > Current

Release  and select CPPM-x86_64-20140919-cli-der-support-patch . After you have installed the

patch, update to 6.4.2 or higher. You can then upgrade to 6.5 through the CLI.
