Can't get the Instant guest captive portal to show.

    I'm testing instant AP cluster in our lab. Have two (2) IAP, with static IPs, and three (3) SSIDs. One SSID is for internal access, other for BYOD and the third one is for guest. The internal and BYOD are working correctly using our ClearPass server for authentication. Cluster was joined to AirWave for monitoring only.

     

    When a client tries to connect to the guest SSID it gets a connection and IP but it is not redirected to the Captive Portal.

     

    All the networks for this test are connected to a CheckPoint Firewall and the networks in use are nonroutable IPs.

     

    Because this is in the lab, the network security guys didn't want to do any natting.

     

    Could this be the problem for the guest SSID?

     

    Also, I know we can do the Captive Portal in ClearPass, but the network security guys prefer it be in the cluster.

     

    We plan to use this setup for some of our remote offices. All of the them already have CheckPoint firewalls with VPN tunnels back to corporate.

     

    Appreciate any help anyone can provide.

    You need to resolve DNS to bring up a captive portal...  Or you can try opening a browser and typing http://1.1.1.1

    The DNS problem is correct.
