    Hello

We got a client which has an old Clearpass which has on a site A

He wants to move it to Site B

The clearpass on Site A its a 6.4 which is really old

On Site A they got VMWare

On Site B they got Hyper V

What would be the best way to move it to Site A to Site B?

I want to put him Clearpass 6.8 on site B at the end.

    My ideas could be

Upgrading clearpass 6.4 to 6.8 on site A  and take a Full Backup

    On Site B

Deploy a new fresh Clearpass 6.8  and upload the backup i got on site A

    Change the ip address

Do a license transfer and shutdown the clearpass on site A that they will not use Anymore

Will this be a good way of doing it? or someone got  a better way?

They just got clearpass Guest on that clearpass

    Thanks

Yes, Just remember that you will aslo need to backup and restore the server certs (https, radius, services) and any server settings (ad join, FDQN, log interm accounting, ect ). They are not part of the back up.

    Hello

The client is asking if its possible to migrate it from a vmware to hyper V in format OVA or ODF  and then just change it the ip address.   I guess they just want it to transform the virtual machines or something like that.

It is not recommend in any way doing it like that?

I would not recommend doing the migration that way. There are just way too many variables that my cause issues. Espeically the NIC cards.

    Hello tarnold

thanks for taking your time in asnwering my questions.

One last question,  it would be the same case if i wanted to do a backup of a VM on VMware and restore it on another  VMware? that there would  be too many variables that could cause issues

Be carefull with release 6.8.1 because profiling can stop working due a known issue.  Seems like there is a hotfix available for this issue.
