    Customer needs just 802.1x for 5000 end user clients, but wants redundancy for HA.   Has one CP-VA-5K.  Does he need another CP-VA-5K or can he spin up a subscriber without a license, presuming he realizes that he has a limited time to realize the publisher is down and fix/replace it?   Thanks!

    You would need to purchase two virtual appliances.
