Clearpass migration to new Hardware

Hello Folks,

I have a  Cluster with 3 clear pass servers HW-5k and want to migrate to new hardware C2000, and keep same configuration same IP addresses,

any best practice/step by step to safely perform this migration?

Re: Clearpass migration to new Hardware

Swap the servers 1 by 1:

Make a full back-up and back-up the config (config export) before you start.

Remove the server form the VIP before you drop it.

Remove server 1 (drop subscriber)

add the new hardware node as subscriber with same ip as server 1

Check cluster sync..

Remove server 2 (drop subscriber)

add the new hardware node as subscriber with same ip as server 2

Check cluster sync..

Promote 1 of the subscribers to publisher

remove server 3 (old publisher, drop as subscriber)

add the new hardware node as subscriber with same ip as server 3

Check cluster sync..

promote server 3 to publisher

Now you have a cluster in the same state, but with new hardware.

Re: Clearpass migration to new Hardware

I can see you provided a full answer for my case, thank you, Fabian.

what about licenses, they can also be migrated? or I need new License keys for the new servers?
