Hi all

Just wondering if anyone knows if a Clearpass 500 Linux virtual machine would allow a CentOS compatible 3rd party backup agent (Datto) to be installed on it for to backup the unit and allow us to failover the VM to a separate backup device.

Hi, it does not allow for 3rd party agents to be installed on the VM. You can use the inbuilt automatic backup process to complete this task.The backup process will run every day at 1am.

Will the backup process produce a VM file that could be spun up on another unit or will it produce a database that would have to be imported into another VM created on another server?

It will provide a backup of the CPPM configuration which can be imported into another CPPM installation. It will not backup the the underlying VM. If you wish to backup the entire VM you would need to look at another solution.
