Hi to all,

is it possible to display survey/ads upon connective to an open guest ssid captive portal and gather data using clearpass? i saw another brand capable of displaying such through CP popup assistant of a smartphone.

any alternatives or recommendations?

Open Guest SSID is on any device(NAD) and the captive portal hosted on ClearPass you can show

• The static (one time advertisements on the captive portal page).
• Provide customr script which can pull the data from the advertisement server which can show various advertisements back to back.
• Since its Open network before going to captive portal page you can push the user for a survey page hosted on different server.
• You can create survey on the captie portal page of the ClearPass by creating the custom fields in ClearPass Guest.

However for showing dynymic ads you have to use the something like BLE which comes with Aruba meridian which use the Push notifications to send the dynamic ads to the users devices based on their location.

(Offcourse you have to opt it)

Since the ClearPass Already does lot of thing(RADIUS, TACACS, Profiling, Onconnect,Extensiosn, Ongaurd, Onbaord ...etc) we expect more from it.

just few clarifications on the following:

• The static (one time advertisements on the captive portal page).-this can be like image right?and they can swipe or click next until they reach the CP acknowledge/authenticate page?
• Provide customr script which can pull the data from the advertisement server which can show various advertisements back to back.

Correct.

         Yes, Since ClearPass allows custom code to create the custom page , you can get the code written from software developer which will get the data from advertisement server and display it on captive portal page.

Yes, you can create the custom fields and map that on the ClearPass self-registration page and get the data along with username and password however it will be associated with some username(username or visitor name or room number or some random username) in the ClearPass and it will be visible under ClearPass Guest > Guest > Manage Accounts.
