If i got a clearpass  5k 6.6   with 1k guest 

And i got another clearpass and i put it in HA and just the first clearpass has the 1k guest license

What would happen if that server fails? it will not send the 1k guest license to the other server like in the controller for 30 days right?

 

I guess it will work just fine for a few weeks then it will lock me out of the administration it is like that?

The ClearPass Guest license is a cluster wide license and shared by all the nodes in the cluster (even when you install/add it on the publisher). When publisher is down, the 1K license will still be available for rest of the subscribers in the cluster.

This would be the same in clearpass 6.7?

 

Let say the client got clearpass 5k Hardware appliance 6.6

 

i upgrade it to clearpass 6.7  so i get 5000 acess license in that clearpass

 

I buy a NEW hardware appliance with 6.7 without license for the HA

 

IS this the way to go right? i mean, i dont need to buy any license if i already got it from the old clearpass if im just using the second clearpass for the HA right?

Yes this would be the same, the cluster license pooling haven't changed in 6.7.X

In 6.7 licensing in a cluster is a bit different for Policy manager
licenses which are now Access Licenses , prior to 6.7 if you had a node
with 500 licenses those weren't share across the cluster but in 6.7 Access
Licenses are shared across all nodes.

So if you decide to add more nodes (HW or Virtual) for redundancy /
capacity to the cluster you don't need to purchase additional licensing
