LinkedIn authentication failures after May 1, 2019

This message is to notify Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager Guest (all versions) of a pending change by LinkedIn that will impact any captive portal that uses LinkedIn authentication.

 

This information will also be posted in the Announcements section of Aruba Support Center (http://support.arubanetworks.com/Announcements/tabid/139/Default.aspx) (note this portion requires authentication to view)

 

SUMMARY

Customers who have configured captive portal access using the LinkedIn service as an authentication source will experience a service disruption on May 01, 2019. 

LinkedIn will be deactivating the APIs that are currently used by ClearPass Guest to provide this capability.  When end users select the LinkedIn authentication method they will be denied access despite correctly entering credentials.

 

Resolution

This issue will be addressed in the next ClearPass Policy Manager 6.7 and 6.8 versions.  Hot fix releases for ClearPass Policy Manager 6.7.9 and 6.8.0 are being planned.

NOTE: There will not be any hotfixes provided for ClearPass versions prior to 6.7. Customers must plan to upgrade to the currently supported release.

 

Workaround

Customers using LinkedIn authentication for captive portals are recommended to enable an alternate authentication method and disable LinkedIn until the system has been patched to address this issue.
