PMS XML Integration

Our customer wishes to integrate their PMS with their Aruba WLAN infrastructure and are considering utilizing XML integration for this purpose.

As per the XML API integration guide, below are the commands that should be executed to add a user; however, the integrator is worried that PMS can only provide a username and password but they are not sure how MAC address or IP address can be communicated. Is there something we are missing here?

xml=<aruba command="user_add">

<ipaddr>IP-address_of_the_user</ipaddr>

<macaddr>MAC-address_of_the_user</macaddr>

<name>User_Name</name>

<role>Role_Name<role>

<session_timeout>Session_timeout</session_timeout>

<key>Shared_Key</key>

<authentication>MD5|SHA-1|cleartext</authentication> #select any one

<version>1.0</version>

</aruba>''

Re: PMS XML Integration

We have looked into ClearPass Guest for this matter but we need to confirm one point still. The PMS they have utilizes the FIAS protocol which is supported by CP but Arubapedia only lists Micros, Protel and Silverbyte as certified systems and I can see that during configuration, one of the three has to be chosen as the "Processing Gateway" from a drop-down menu. What can be a solution here?

Re: PMS XML Integration

They key point in the details page is 'certified'.  FIAS is a spec, so things should work.  That being said, it is not a community or open spec and there is no sense of interoperability, so any given vendor does as they please.  The only thing you can do is test it working and have their PMS folk look at their logs.
