    I'm setting up a RADIUS server on Linux for 802.1x authentication using AD on the backend and wanted to know if anyone had any experience getting this up and running. Specifically interested in learning about the SAMBA setup and whether it does indeed require you to have the server joined to the AD domain.

    Thanks!

    That's the documentation I was going by. Sorry, I'm not a linux guru, I'm correct in that the documentation requires the user to join the samba server to the domain?

    On the same page:

    "Start the Samba and Kerberos servers, and as root join the domain:
    $ net join -U Administrator

    Enter the administrator password at the prompt.

    Next, verify that a user in the domain can be authenticated:
    $ wbinfo -a user%password "
