I just saw the latest release of CPPM show up.

Is there a preferred order of upgrade?

    Publisher first, or subscriber first?

    Thanks,

    Tony

Publisher first...then subscriber.  Please read the release notes carefully

Not sure if there's a best practice, but I usually do the publisher first.

Once the publisher comes back online after the upgrade, the subscriber will become out of sync, then you can upgrade the subscriber.

I like to stop the RADIUS service on the server before I upgrade it so that the network devices will mark the server as out of service.

Just like seth stated READ the release notes. In this version you should also disable auto backup.

CPPM will error out if you try to upgrade the sub first.

OK, I went against all instincts and read the release notes. :-)

But I'm confused by disk requirements.

The release notes say I need one 500GB harddrive.

But when I start the upgrade process, it tells me I need two HDD's with this message:

    ........................................................................................................................................................

"This server is a VM. Upgrade requires presence of two hard drives - i.e., SCSI(0:1), SCSI(0:2) with recommended capacity. If not already present, please attach the missing hard drive, reboot and attempt upgrade again.

WARN: Current installation will be retained while all data on the other hard drive will be erased and upgrade image installed on it.

    Proceed?

    ........................................................................................................................................................

I'm upgrading from 6.3, and it seems to me that I recall a similar hard drive issue on a previous upgrade.

Do I need to worry about this?

    Thanks,

    Tony

you can ignore that if you are on 6.3+ that will be fixed in the next patch.

    Great, thank you.

It sure looked like a message I had seen before.

Any idea how long I should wait before panic sets in?

The upgrade said it was successful.

I clicked Reboot, and it's been quite a while... about 20-25 mintues.

I can ping the server, but no web server is showing up yet.

    Thanks,

    Tony

    Thanks, it finally came back.

Those upgrading to 6.4 take note: click Reboot and walk away for a while.
