After did a minimal setup to Aruba controller 7010 I can't access with default username/password (admin/admin).

Is the default admin password is different?

The admin password is set when you set it up.  You cannot avoid setting the admin password.

It's a new box. After boot up, Console in and I did a minimal setup. It only ask me for hostname and Country code. It didn't ask for setting up the admin password!

After reboot, I need a username and password. Which I assume it's default but admin/admin is not taking by the controller.

If you're not doing ZTP, you should use the full setup option.

Hmm, I agree that might causing me not able access because I am not setting this up for ZTP. How can I get back to the same previous screen where I do have an option to do minimal setup or full setup for the controller?

Looks like the original question was never answer I am in the same scanerio awaiting response from TAC but it could be helpful to have the answer posted here as well.

I'm stuck after the mini-setup and can't create a new username then save configuration, can't reload the device, can't write erase, so I'm stuck.

If you have console access, you can try to reseting the password.

Login to the controller using the special password reset credentials

    Login:       password
    Passwd:    forgetme!

    User: password
    Password: *********

    Enter ENABLE mode

    (Aruba7010) >enable
    Password: enable

Enter configure terminal mode and enter this command:  mgmt-user admin root

You should be prompted to enter a new admin password.
    (Aruba7010) #configure terminal
Enter Configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z
    (Aruba7010) (config) #mgmt-user admin root
    Password:******
    Re-Type password:******

Once it’s set, back-out of each menu and log out of the controller and login with the new/ reset admin password.

    (Aruba7010) (config) #exit
    (Aruba7010) #exit
    (Aruba7010) >exit
    (Aruba7010)

    User: admin
    Password: ******
    (Aruba7010) >

    Regards,

I've tried the moethod you have suggested with no success. I am working with a 7205 but that should not make a difference. I am now getting a password error, I did try long/short password combination so I'm sure this is not the issue .I did however follow the steps you have privided before I received this error with no success.

I am scheduled to talk to TAC today or tomorrow was just looking for a quicker resolution.

The password you're trying to use is not complex enough to pass the complexity requirements. Try a stronger password.

I don't think that is the case, I was able to once change it successfully then tried to log out then log back in and it did not work. Since then I always get this error, and I have tried randomly generated password between 15-20 charaters.

When I meet with TAC I will look to posting the resolution to this issue.

There are multiple issues described in this thread, which issue are you experiencing?

    What is the output from:

    show aaa password-policy mgmt

Also, what version of AOS are you running?

    (Aruba7205) #show aaa password-policy mgmt
You do not have permission to execute this show command show aaa password-policy mgmt

    (Aruba7205) #

    It's running 6.5.4.6 FIPS

    Thanks

Ah, running in FIPS mode disables the password recovery option. Please contact Aruba TAC for assistance on options.

Hello all. My ex ployee did setup the aruba AP 103 RW but he forgot the password now.

Is there a way please to reset that password, without a console cable? Thanks.

You cannot recover or reset the password on an IAP.  You have to use the factory reset button (yes, it will wipe the config)

    I have same situation.

I issued write erase on Aruba7005.

After boot up, default password admin/admin doesn't log in. (why?)

I tried to reset password, but it can't saying "This controller is managed by a Mobility Master."

I set up as "mini-setup". but I don't set up any master and other password.

I will attach console log. Can you check how I can log in 7005?

    User: password
    Password:forgetme!

You should use the full setup where you can set the admin username and password.

EDIT:  If you use the mini-setup to connect to an existing MM, there is an admin username and password defined somewhere in the structure.  That should work for MDs that you have added using the mini setup.

I am attaching console log. Can you tell me where is admin and password defined by the system?

How do I go back to set up full-setup. I just want to log in the controller.

I solved the issue from below site.

    https://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/Controller-Based-WLANs/Configuration-changes-in-Managed-Device/ta-p/393395

I will share procedures for anyone who have same issue.

During password recovery, those two are important.

    1) #local-config enable

    2) Don't forget write terminal before exit. Some password recovery sample doesn't write terminal so that it cuases failure.

    User: password
    Password:forgetme!
    (Aruba7005) #configure terminal
This controller is managed by a Mobility Master.
Configuration changes can only be performed on the Mobility Master.
    (Aruba7005) #local-config enable
Warning: 'local-configure enable' should only be used for debugging. This will disableAuto-Rollback feature. Please use the command 'local-configure disable' after you are done.
    Configuration Mode Is Enabled.

    (Aruba7005) ^#configure terminal
Enter Configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z

    (Aruba7005) ^(config) #mgmt-user admin root
    Password:********
    Re-Type Password:********
    (Aruba7005) ^(config) #write memory

    Hello,

This was the old command. Now use "disaster-recovery on"
