    Hi y'all

We are looking at rolling out a WPA2 Enterprise SSID on our campus this summer and need to be able to predict what the increased load will be on our external authentication servers.

On our campus, we have up to 45K concurrent users and around 110K unique users per day.  We also have ClearPass servers and use SSO and Mac auth for access to our open SSID on campus.  These servers see nearly 1 million authentication request per day.

In order to determine expected load on our external servers, I would like to know what kind of metrics I can look at (and how) to get a good estimate.  Also, if there are other sites that can provide numbers for their network.

    Thanks

Brandeis University usually sees around 8,000 unique MAC addresses per day (wired and wireless) with about 450,000 authentications. 75% 802.1X, 25% MAC-auth.
