Virtual Controllers

Some other vendors are offering virtual WLAN controllers which can be deployed as VMware virtual machines. Wouldn't it be great to have something like that for IAP environments instead of having all traffic tunelled to a master AP?

All the traffic on an IAP is not tunneled to an IAP.  The user traffic is certainly pushed directly onto the wired from the AP the user is connected to, unless configured otherwise.  With that being said, what advantage would there be to have a Virtual Machine, instead of an AP or Virtual Controller controlling configuration?

Hum...

I really thought all traffic was tunneled to the master AP, thanks for the heads up. I guess that would only be the case for NATed vlans then. Am I right?

Correct.
