HPE FlexFabric EVPN DRNI Distributed Gateways
This document provides guidance on deploying and verifying FlexFabric switches with EVPN DRNI Distributed Gateways within a Data Center.
Ethernet VPN (EVPN) is a standards based control plane that uses MP-BGP to dynamically build or teardown VXLAN tunnels between VXLAN tunnel endpoints (VTEPs) and share MAC/IP information of the connected servers/VMs. Distributed Resilient Network Interconnect (DRNI) is a standards based dual control plane link aggregation protocol and distributed gateways provide anycast IPv4 default gateways on the DRNI leafs. DRNI is an alternative to single control plane Intelligent Resilient Framework (IRF).
The combination of EVPN DRNI distributed gateways provides both L2 and L3 network connectivity for servers/VMs connected on different switches/racks over an L3 IP fabric
