Hi I am a SNMP noob and finally was able to do and snmpwalk and receive SNMPv3 traps.

However I am only receiving a very limited amount of notifications. See traps list below.

Is there a way to send more traps, for example, I was expecting to receive a trap when I disabled a port, but I'm not.

    Any  ideas? Thanks!

    Hi Rob/All,

The link provided in above post does not open the page.

Further, suppose customer is looking configuration change notification should also be received to solarwind tool  .He has syslog and SNMV3 configuration as below on 2930f switch.

    logging 10.232.215.138

    logging facility syslog

    logging severity info

    logging notify running-config-change

    logging command

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    snmp-server community "public" unrestricted

    snmpv3 enable

    snmpv3 only

    snmpv3 restricted-access

    snmpv3 group managerpriv user "solarwinds" sec-model ver3

    snmpv3 user "solarwinds"

    Current Version : WC.16.07.0002

As he has SNMPV3 was thnking to propose customer with SNMPV3 trap commands to receive notification on configuration change . So will be below configuration adding to snmp will do or still need something more in config to acheive customer requirement.

    snmp-server enable traps startup-config-change
    snmp-server enable traps running-config-change

Any help on this appreciated in advance.

I am going to ask customer to add above commands and see the outputs.

    Thanks

    Shadaab

    Greetings!

You will also need to configure SNMPv3 notifications and specify a target address where the notifications are sent to. Refer to this section of the 2930F Management and Configuration Guide for command references and a configuration example.
