    Hi there

We will be deploying 5412zl2 Switches  in a VSF Cluster.

Each switch will include a J9993A 10G SFP+ running an up to date ArubaOS - (Aruba OS v16.10.0007 at the time of posting). Can anyone confirm if there are any limitations in throughput across each of the 8 Ports. Eg Are all eight ports capable of running the full 10Gb concurrently (80Gbs)?. The reason I ask is that I have dug out this old document attached, which relates to the former 5400zl model. The 8 X 10Gb module was not capable of the full 10Gb, with the line card divided into 2 channels with  the 8 ports spit across.

I'm hoping thing have moved on for the zl2 Switches, however I cannot find any documentation on this.

    Many thanks

I recall I've discussed about it on HPE Community (years months ago? here)!

Technically speaking a J9993A v3 zl2 Module, once installed on a Aruba 5400R zl2 Switch operating either using the v3 Compatibility mode (not supported if you're planning to deploy a VSF) or using the v3 Only mode (the only setting supported to deploy a VSF), benefits of a throughput of 80 Gbps to the backplane thus 8 x 10 Gbps ports should not be hit by any particular over-subscription issue.

I mean...the over-subscription issue was present on previous generation HP ProCurve 5400zl switch series equipped with v1 zl or v2 zl Modules...but it's not if you're going to use Aruba 5400R zl2 with v3 zl2 Modules and to operate it by setting v3 Only or v3 Compatible modes.
