    Hi Team,

Just wanted to check, for the 6300 24SFP+ 4SFP56 (JL658A), any restrictions on the number of the 10GBase-T transceivers (JL563A) that we can slot in to this switch?

Just to clarify on this because most of the other vendors that provide this solution only can slot in half of the 10GBase-T transceivers.

    Please advise thanks!

    Regards,

    Ricardo

Hi Ricardo, apparently the Aruba 6300M 24-port SFP+ and 4-port SFP56 Switch (JL658A) - as per its QuickSpecs document - should support:

    • Min=0 | Max= 24 SFP/SFP+ 100M/1/10G Transceivers
    • Min=0 | Max = 4 SFP/SFP+/SFP28/SFP56 1/10/25/50G Transceivers

for a grand total of up to 28 SFP+ 10GBASE-T Transceivers...it sounds a little bit too much IMHO...at least given the restriction already seen on other platforms - like the Aruba 8320 and Aruba 8325 - in relation to the same type of SFP+ Transceiver (the Aruba 10GBASE-T SFP+ RJ45 30 m Cat. 6A Transceiver with SKU JL563A).

Give this legitimate doubt, it would be better to wait the final word from Aruba Support/PM.

    Hi Parnassus,

    Thanks for the feedback.

It also shows in the configurator tool that it supports 10GBase-T for all the ports (24-ports), but really cannot find any document or release notes to support this assumption.

Will anyone from Aruba support team reply here and provide some documentation?

    Thanks so much.

    Regards,

    The 6300 model 24SFP+ 4SFP56 (JL658A) can indeed handle all Qty 28 (that's all 10G SFP+ plus the 4 SFP56 ports) with the 10GBT JL563A xcvr.

The box has been certified to handle the heat dissipated by these xcvrs.

That's great! Thank you Giles for confirming that.

    Thanks Giles for the confirmation!

May I check if there is any documentation pertaining to this?

It's just that need to have black and white as this will be the first switch in the market (as I know) that will be able to support full 10GBase-T transceivers for all the ports.

    Regards,

IRIS will provide you a validated BOM configuration if you select 24x JL563A.
