has anybody deployed the ArubaOS-CX on ESXI with the OVA,

I am unable to get any connectivity to the management interface nor any of the other with some very simple config.

I have configured the mgmt interface with an IP and Default gateway, although unable to get a connection.

Am I missing something with the virtual deployment?

Did you enable promiscuous mode on the virtual network connecting

the first interface of the VM (which is the mgmt interface) ?

    Greetings!

Be sure to double-check the virtual NICs in the VM settings; in particular, Network Adapter 1 should be connected to the management network you wish to access the VM from using the virtual management interface.  If this is the first time you've started this virtual machine, try rebooting it using the boot system command, and check the management interface again.

I couldn't get this working, imported it into fusion and it works straight away.

Not how I wanted as wanted to use some of the features but will at least get me on the GUI and the Rest.

has anybody got it working on ESXI 6.5

Yes. It works on ESXi6.5 and if you're a partner you can access OVA information on Arubapedia For Partners:

I had the exact same experience with ArubaOS-CX v10.04 and unable to get management interface connectivity using ESXi 6.5.  When OVA first deployed, I did recall an error that default OS selected by OVA (Other Linux 64-bit) was no longer supported by my ESXi version.  Additionally, all default NICs were unsupported (probably due to the default OS selection).  Therefore, I shut down the guest VM and changed its OS settings (under VM Options > General Options) to use more current values including "Other 3.0 Linux 64-bit" and changed all NIC adapters to use VMXNET3.  Note: you cannot simply change the adapter type but need to delete existing and re-add Network interfaces with new type value.  After couple days of researching and troubleshooting different ArubaOS-CX config settings, I eventually decided to give another ESXi Guest OS and NIC selection a try.  I selected "Other 2.6 Linux 64-bit" and "E1000" and network connectivity worked on next restart!  Not sure if VMXNET adapters work or not.  Did not try since E1000 selection is working.  Just happy to finally get it working.  Hope this info helps others and saves them the time I spent.  Paying back and paying forward!

Has anyone had a chance to setup the ArubaOS-CX VM with GNS3 and have access to the GUI? if I set it up standalone with vmware player I can access the gui with no problem, but not with GNS3, seems that gns3 re arrange the ports overriding the my manual settings.

While 10.2 Ova is available, still not able to get this running on ESXi 6.5. I want to run a full-size lab with VSX and MC-LAG upstream and downstream.

Also, the GNS3 appliance is not accessible, the link is broken nor is the appliance available.

I can't run a full lab on Virtualbox on my machine.

I have also looked through the afp.arubanetworks.com and I haven't had any success.

The GNS3 appliance URL that I gave works if you have Aruba For Partners access.

The GNS3 appliance is just a descriptor for Qemu. It does not contain the vmdk  that must be downloaded from ASP:

    https://asp.arubanetworks.com/downloads/software/RmlsZTpjY2M3NjgzOC0yZTUyLTExZTktYjRkOC1iNzk5YmM1YTZmMmM%3D

While I have partner access and asp, none of those links gave me access.

The asp link to download the ova came up with the note to say it will be activated in 2 days.

I did get the GNS3 appliance from the afp.

I installed eve-ng on virtualbox and imported the OVA as described but yet to get that working.

    That won't run.

    Install it on VMware Workstation.

I have made some progress, I have the OS running in Eve-ng

I am interested to know about your network set-up, I have previously configured the mgmt for DHCP and connected to the interface which has allowed access from the PC by SSH.

In Eve-ng while I have an mgmt network connected, I can't figure which interface to attached the CX to, nor can i get a DHCP address.

How do you have EVE-NG configured?

    Bare metal, EXI, VMplayer.

I can't get andy Cisco, nor connectivity to another VM nor get networking to a CX. That's across 3 different platforms, having read the cookbok and wait far too long for builds.

    Did you use interface0 or interface1 ?

interface0 in the template is the management OOBM interface.

    interface1 should be the first (i.e 1/1/1)

If this is the case, then try shut/no shut 1/1/1 on both nodes.

I am using interface 1/1/1. Shutdown / no shutdown does not help.

One more think i noticed.  On e.g. SW1 i see other Mac Adress in show interfaces, than i see in gns3 settings

    e.g.  show interfaces 1/1/1

    MAC Addres: 08:00:09......

    in gns3 i see:

I have no physical nic assigned  on ESXi. There is GNS3 VM on a virtual switch and another VM as gateway for GNS3 VM which allows GNS3 to lconnect to realworld.

    Hi All,

I tried to install the ArubaOS-CX 10.04 on eve-ng (running on ESXi 6.5). The installation was smooth except the last step with fix permissions:

    /opt/unetlab/wrappers/unl_wrapper -a fixpermissions

It is giving me an error with line 71 in init.php.

Problem 2: When I try to start the console of Aruba Switch in Eve-ng, it gives me a connection timeout error.

Has someone faced a similar issue, and is there any workaround for it.

I assume you activate nested virtualization (GNS3VM is KVM, so the GNS3VM must have setting for virtualization enabled).

That does not make sense to me. The simulated interface in CX OVA are 1G.
There is no dependency on external connectivity, so no dependency on speed of NIC of the GNS3 server.

I have another issue with GNS3, the VM is stuck for a long time on "Failed to start System Logging Service", after 10 minutes it's stuck on "Started Update UTMP about System Runlevel Changes."

Is there a way to skip this? I'ts a new installation of GNS3 on new hardware. I had it working in the past, but now im stuck and can't get it to boot up.
