Q:

How can ports that connect to other spanning-tree switches be displayed?

A:

The “Edge” column in the command show spanning-tree output will contain the value “Yes” or “No”.

  • “No” indicates a connection to a switch and
  • “Yes” indicates a connection to a device that does not run spanning-tree protocol.

In the following example;

 • Ports 1-14, 23 and 24 are in an up state.
 • Ports 1-6 and 24 are connected to switches.
 • Ports 7-14 and 23 are connected to devices that do not run spanning-tree protocol.
