Requirement:

For any investigation of the issue, the support team needs the support files from the Switches, There are different scenario's and methods used to extract support files and submit for investigation

Any one of the below requirement need to be fulfilled to get the support files

1. External FTP folder details given by Support team

2. Inetrnal TFTP/SFTP/FTP server

3. USB Drive

Solution:

Support files are the bunch of information for TAC team to investigate the issue and there are multiple option to get the same.

We can use the same methodology to copy core-dump and other required files from the switch

1. Copy Support files directly to External FTP Folder shared by the support team (Via SFTP, TFTP).

2. Copy the support files to the internal TFTP/STFP server and then upload Manually.

3. Copy the support files to USB and then upload manually.

Configuration:

1. Copy Support files directly to External FTP Folder shared by the support team (Via SFTP, TFTP).

For sftp:

Switch# copy support-files all sftp://<username>@<IP Address of Remote Server>/giant_support-files.tar.gz vrf mgmt

For tftp:

Switch# copy support-files all tftp://<username>@<IP Address of Remote Server>/support-files.tar.gz vrf mgmt

2. Copy the support files to the internal TFTP/STFP server and then upload Manually.

For sftp:

Switch# copy support-files all sftp://<IP Address of Local Server>/giant_support-files.tar.gz vrf mgmt

For tftp:

Switch# copy support-files all tftp://<IP Address of Local Server>/support-files.tar.gz vrf mgmt

Please note on both the above cases you can use the specific VRF (ex, here we have used management VRF), if you do not specify a VRF then it will take the default VRF

3. Copy the support files to USB and then upload manually.

For usb:

Switch# copy support-files all usb://support-files.tar.gz

For USB option, First you need to enable the USB and then you need to Mount, To do so

Switch#(config) enable usb

Switch#(config) mount usb

Verification can be done by

Switch# show usb

enabled: yes

mounted:yes

Verification

You can verify the respective servers for the support files

Please note the below points:

1. The Local or remote server should be reachable.

2. If you are using a Specific VRF then internet or the server should be reachable from that VRF.

3. USB should be formatted with FAT32 option before insterting to switch
