IGMP and IGMP snooping for Aruba 2930M

    Hi community.

    As far as I know, IGMP and IGMP snooping are two different features.

    IGMP (v1 or v2 or v3) is a L3 protocol, and IGMP snooping is a feature that works at L2 and for switches that are not L3 necessarily.

    Checking the "Aruba 2930F / 2930M Multicast and Routing Guide for ArubaOS-Switch 16.06" manual, chapter 2: Multimedia Traffic Control with IP Multicast (IGMP), I see that 2930M support IGMP snooping, but I do not see any section that says IGMPv3 is supported by the this switch.

    Can anybody confirm me that 2930M supports IGMPv3 (I am not talking about IGMP snooping support)?

    Hi Pedro, 

     

    IGMPv3 is supported on the 2930F/M Switch Series.

     

    For future reference, you can always refer to the software feature matrix which shows which features are supported on specific platforms.

    Here's a snippet from a 2930:

    Switch(vlan-10)# ip igmp version
    <2-3> The protocol version to use; the default is 2.

     

    The ip igmp command turns on snooping as well as IGMP support.
