Multiprotocol BGP on 5400r, 3810M switches

Hello there,

I'm trying to find out if Aruba switches 5400r ad 3810M series support multiprotocol BGP.

Thanks!

With the formula "multiprotocol BGP" are you meaning IPv6 other than IPv4? otherwise can you clarify a little bit better what do you mean?

Hi parnassus,

Well the question would be, are the switches RFC4760 compliant?

Hi,

As per your query, Aruba 8320,8325,8400 high-end series switches support M-BGP as per RFC4760, but Aruba 5400 series switches won't support M-BGP as per RFC4760

Exactly, a list of BGP related RFCs supported by Aruba 5400R zl2 and Aruba 3810M is:

BGP

  • RFC 1997 BGP Communities Attribute
  • RFC 2918 Route Refresh Capability
  • RFC 4271 A Border Gateway Protocol 4 (BGP-4)
  • RFC 4456 BGP Route Reflection: An Alternative to Full Mesh Internal BGP (IBGP)
  • RFC 5492 Capabilities Advertisement with BGP-4

and, as already pointed out, RFC 4760 is not among them.
