Will HPE 8200 modules work with Aruba 5400R

    We need to upgrade our core switces from HPE 8200 to Aruba 5400 switches. The problem is that we cant afford a full scale upgrade and need to be able to run the existing modules on the new switch. Is this possible at all

    I have listed my current Modules in the text file

    Please advise

    but it will be compatible if you use v2 compability mode

    Hi!

    The general rule is that Aruba 5400R zl2 supports only v2 zl Modules (and an HP ProCurve 8200 supports HP v1 zl and HP v2 zl Modules) when it runs in "Compatibility Mode" (which is its default running mode)...so any HP v2 zl Module can be migrated to Aruba 5400R zl2.

     

    HP v1 zl Modules are not supported and can't be re-used.

    Clearly Management Module is excluded (Aruba 5400R zl2 has its own MM).

    Which modules are you want to use ? is it complete FPC/MPC modules or only SFP transceivers.

    The OP should check which SFP/SFP+ Transceivers his two HP ProCurve 8200 zl Switches are currently using (especially if Transceivers are not "HP Original")...generally there aren't problems moving HP Original SFP/SFP+ Transceivers to a new Aruba 5400R zl2...clearly having a list of involved SFP/SFP+ Transceiver SKUs would be of help to do a pre-flight check before any move.

    Greetings!

     

    All of the interface modules in the attached list will operate in a 5400R zl2 chassis, as long as it is operating in v2 Compatibility Mode (using the command allow-v2-modules). Note that not all 5400R features are available in this mode (including VSF), as they are not supported by the v2 module hardware.
