I went to the Firmware upload tab and the 5400 and 5400R switches are not listed for a default firmware version.

It does show up here at the link you gave me but the whole line is missing as configurable switches in Airwave.

The 5400R is known in Airwave as an ArubaOS switch. The list you show, I think it is from the group firmware page as it looks different than the generic firmware upgrade page, shows only HPE Comware switches.

Do you have your 5400R switches in that group? And under the group Basic tab, have you enabled the Aruba OS Switches (Show device settings for...)?

I see the 5400R as a 3800/5400R switch but I am still missing the 5400 switch series.

I can't find the 5400 in the Supported Devices list for Airwave, so it might be unsupported. You can check with your local Aruba SE or Aruba TAC to have that validated.

I have reached out to Aruba to find out their rationale if this is true. I may have to dump Airwave and move back to IMC.

correcting my statment, I mean not fully supported you can monitor the device with limited features. We can try add the non supported device as  universal device and can montior, if we are not able to add using vendor specific add option from Devices>Add page.

Technically speaking this statement is not correct (or, at least, not totally correct...in relation to the meaning one can give to the word "supported"): indeed HP ProCurve 5400zl Switch series is supported on Airwave but provided support includes only monitoring, it doesn't include neither Configuration push nor Firmware update push.
