    Hello guys

    I have the fallowing scenario

I have 2 7210 with 250 APS with centralized license

I got Master-stand by config and the APS terminates in those controllers

and the client need to add a few outdoor APS to an specific area.  For that he needs to go for version 8. because the AP 375 just support aruba OS 8

As far i understand the master cannot terminate APS as it would act as a Aruba mobility master.

    So i see i got 3 options:

1- that the client get an aruba mobility master in VM which will be really hard to do that this year

2-that the client configure one controller as master and the other as local(he would loose redundancy)

3-Configiure both controllers as stand alone(which can terminates APS in ARUBA OS 8) and put them in HA

Right now im interested in option 3, if this is an option.  Is there a way to do an easy migration to that option?

We will do option 1 most likely

The 2 7210s can be configured with Master Redundancy, just like 6.5

    Hello Collin

What about the AP termination? i need to terminate 250 aps in those controllers

What will happen if i have a master local config with VRRP and i just upgrade it from 6.5 to 8

The master standby config i used was this one

    Example config

    vrrp 1
    priority 120
    ip address 192.168.5.10
    vlan 5
    authentication aruba123
    description Preferred-Master
    tracking master-up-time 30 add 20
    no shutdown
    !
    master-redundancy
    master-vrrp 1
    peer-ip-address 192.168.5.2 ipsec aruba123

AND THE BACKUP CONTROLLER WITH TIHS CONFIG
    vrrp 1
    priority 100
    ip address 192.168.5.10
    vlan 5
    authentication aruba123
    description Backup-Master
    tracking master-up-time 30 add 20
    no shutdown
    !
    master-redundancy
    master-vrrp 1
    peer-ip-address 192.168.5.1 ipsec aruba123

If you upgrade from 6.5 to 8.x, the controller configuration is wiped and you have to start from scratch.

Your configuration there should be fine.  You should test everything out in the lab, of course.

Yes.  Have you seen the Migration to ArubaOS 8 Chapter in the ArubaOS 8 Fundamentals Guide here?:  https://www.arubanetworks.com/assets/atmosphere/2018-Airheads/Fundamentals%20Guide%20-%20ArubaOS%208%20Fundamentals.pdf
