    Hey,

    i have the following problem:

I have an 345 which wants correctly connect to our MM.

set device anul0 mtu to 2000
    Starting watchdog process...

I checked the Master IP, it is correct and worked for many other APs before.

At our controller i checked the whitelist entry for this AP:

    (xxx) *#show whitelist-db cpsec mac-address 90:4C:81:C0:75:EE

    Control-Plane Security Whitelist-entry Details

    Total Entries: 1

I tried to take the AP only today, but it won´t show at our MM. How can i verify, what is causing the problems? We also tried factory resetting the AP.

Thanks in advance and kind regards

    Daniel

What version of code is running on your MD's, you will need a minimum of 8.3.0.0 for an AP345. Just a note, you should be pointing your APs to your MD's not the MM's since the MM's will not terminate an AP.

Try typing "show ap database" at the MD that it connects to.  See if there are any flags.

    Hey,

    we are using version 8.4.0.0.

Under sh ap database i see the following entry:

    NAPXXXX XX 345 x.x.x.x Down 2 x.x.x.x 0.0.0.0

Does the ap-group have an AP system profile with an LMS-IP that redirects the access point to a controller that doesn't exist?

  • 6.  RE: AP won´t show at controller

The LMS-IP for the AP Group is correct. It is the vrrp adress for the MC Cluster. There are over 100 APs (345) in the same AP group and they are working just fine.

If "show ap database" shows a controller ip address, I would SSH into that controller and type "show log system 50" and see if there is any reference to that access point.  After an AP discovers a cluster, it does not rely on dns/dhcp discovery anymore, it downloads the nodelist of the cluster and connects to one of the controllers in the cluster.  It would seem that controller does not have a standby ip address, which is interesting.

That message is important.  How many controllers do you have an what models are they?

  • 10.  RE: AP won´t show at controller

    Posted Mar 19, 2019 06:57 AM

We have two controllers for our group subset.

Each controller has the following specs:

    Aruba Operating System Software.
    ArubaOS (MODEL: Aruba7210), Version 8.4.0.0

They are placed under LAN-Hardware in our MM Tree:

Is that the only access point with that problem?

No, i have looked after the warning and have found at least one more AP with the same errors on both controllers.

Yes, if your issue is critical, a ticket with TAC should be created.

Are the working and none working aps in the same subnet?

    Looks pretty normal to me.

Yes, there are working and non-working APs in the same subnet.

Did you find the solution?  I have the exact same problem. I have 6 controllers. All 7280s and have APs running on them with no problem. I get the following error?

sapm_proc_hello_req: GSM CLUSTER_AAC is not copied to assigned A-AAC, ignore HELLO

It seems my whitelist isn't being copied to all the controllers and the AP shows denied when I do a sh ap database long command

    Hi,

i have opened a case with Aruba and send them the same logs and the answer was, that it seems like a hardware failure in the AP, so they had send me a spare AP.

  • 19.  RE: AP won´t show at controller

    Posted Apr 15, 2019 10:04 AM

I'm sure that wasn't the problem. I noticed that the whitelist on my 6 controllers doesn't match. I added this entry to the MM and since all 6 controllers are part of a cluster they should sync up. We had a problem adding 4 controllers (7280s) to our exising cluster. The TAC solution was to delete the cluster and rebuild it with the new controllers added. I'm hoping that's no the solution this time. We currently have 2,000 APs running on 6.4 and migrated 1,000 over to 8.3.0.3 and are seeing these little bugs and are nervous about moving the remaining 2,000 this summer.

8.3.0.3 is older and many fixes have been put into 8.3.0.6 which is the current version.  After a bug scrub, I would plan to move to that as soon as possible this summer before migrating access points.

  • 21.  RE: AP won´t show at controller

    Posted Apr 19, 2019 09:22 AM

I discovered my problem. I was hard coding the SETENV master on the AP to the MM and no the VRRP IP address. This is why my whitelists weren't syncing the entry correctly. Can't wait until all of the campus is migrated over to 8.3 from 6.4 so the APs will find the information dynamically.

How does the cluster look when you use the command "show lc-cluster group-membership" from both of the 7210 mds? Do they show as L2 connected, or something else?
