Hi all,

I am connecting the external antenna AP-ANT-45 to an access point Aruba AP 324.

in the provisioning the antenna gain for 2.4 and 5 GHz is required.

I entered 0 for both 2.4ghz and 5 ghz and there is a good signal from the access point, but i don't know if this is the best or not??!!!

 

in my case what is the best value in 2.4ghz and 5 ghz antenna gain(dBi)???

I think it depends on the antenna. What's the gain on antenna?

according the data sheet the gains is:

4.5 dBi for 2.4 ghz and

5.5 dBi for 5 Ghz.

 

but when i put these values the signal is not good as I want, is there anything I can do??

 

 

 

No, you can't. The maximum transmit power is set by regulatory. Putting lower numbers as antenna gain is a violation of the law.

 

Which is why our products require "professional installation".

As noted from the data sheet, the antenna gain is 4.5 and 5.5dBi, respectively. Those are the values that should be used when provisioning the AP, so that the controller can correctly determine EIRP when an AP transmits at a certain power level.

Setting these values to zero results in the caluculation of a lower EIRP than actual, and could result in the AP transmitting at higher power than legally allowed.
