    Hi there,

    I've got a AP515 on a Cisco switch with 15.4W:

    Available:370.0(w) Used:15.4(w) Remaining:354.6(w)

Interface Admin Oper Power Device Class Max (Watts)
    --------- ------ ---------- ------- ------------------- ----- ----

    Fa0/10 auto on 15.4 Ieee PD 4 15.4

I don't get in online with IPM configured:

    Power Status
    ------------
    Item Value
    ---- -----
    Power Supply : POE-AF
LLDP Power : Successfully negotiated at 13.0W
Current Operational State : 1 ETH port disabled; USB power disabled; All radios disabled
Eth0 HW POE status : POE AF, LLDP power: 13.0W

    Following IPM Config is active:

    ipm-power-reduction-step-prio ipm-step disable_usb priority 6
    ipm-power-reduction-step-prio ipm-step disable_alt_eth priority 5
    ipm-power-reduction-step-prio ipm-step radio_2ghz_chain_2x2 priority 4
    ipm-power-reduction-step-prio ipm-step cpu_throttle_25 priority 3
    ipm-power-reduction-step-prio ipm-step cpu_throttle_50 priority 2
    ipm-power-reduction-step-prio ipm-step cpu_throttle_75 priority 1

Is there anything I can do?

    Hi

Are those switches PoE of PoE+?

    From the AP515 Datasheet :

    Maximum (worst-case) power consumption:

    - DC powered: 16.0W
    - PoE powered (802.3af, IPM enabled): 13.5W

    - PoE powered (802.3at/bt): 20.8W

    On 802.3af you need 13.5W.

    Hi Frank,

it is PoE with max. of 15.4W per Port.

    //edit:
Why does the switch shows a power consumption of 15.4W while "show ap debug system-status ap-name AP515 | begin "Power Status" delivers 13W?

    Regards,

    Maurice

    Hi

There is a difference between power on the port and power on the AP. There is less of power on the cable.

Your IPM settings will not do much AFAIK.

USB is not used, 515 is 2x2 MIMO on 2.4GHz, your are using only ETH0.

Maybe look into reducing the TX power on 2.4GHz.

But I can't test it at the moment for you, sorry.

Looks like you may have IPM configured, but it's not actually turned on / enabled.

With IPM the AP-515 should power up without restrictions, and apply restrictions when needed as configured.

The status from both switch and AP seem as expected.

    Hi Onno,

    that solved the problem.

I activated the default ap-system profile in the web-gui but didn't attached it to the ap-group-profile on the cli.

I thought the default profile is automatically bound to the ap-group-profile.....unlucky.

    Thanks all for your response.
